Troubleshooting "GPRS Not Subscribed" on Fake IPhones

This is a troubleshooting guide to help people who are getting the error "GPRS not subscribed" on their fake iPhones -- like the sciphone, the hiphone, the i9, the i68, or whatever. This is such a troublesome error and one that can have many causes so I've decided to dedicate an entire page to this particular error for this particular phone.

Below are various causes of this problem along with the related solutions.

The Phone Does Not Have a Correct GPRS Data Account and/or WAP Profile

You will need to create a GPRS data account and a WAP profile specific to your carrier and to your country. I have video guides on how to create these profiles for both AT&T and T-Mobile in the United States. You can follow either of these guides to assist you in creating the GPRS data account and WAP profile and simply plug-in the correct settings for your particular carrier in your particular country. I have actually compiled a list of the settings for various countries and various carriers.

The Wrong WAP Profile Is Activated

The phone uses only the currently active WAP profile. Even if you have properly created a WAP profile for your carrier in your country, you may not have activated it. You must tap on the profile and then tap "activate profile." After doing this, the profile will have a checkmark to the left of it.

One or More of the Settings in the WAP Profile Are Wrong

Doublecheck the settings of the WAP profile. Pay special attention to the Data Account, Connection Type, Proxy Address, and Proxy Port.

One or More of the Settings in the GPRS Data Account Are Wrong

Doublecheck the settings of the GPRS Data Account. Pay special attention to the APN -- it must be typed in correctly.

You Created the WAP Profile on the Wrong SIM Card

This problem will only affect dual-SIM phones. Select Services > WAP > Settings > Select SIM, and then tap on the SIM that does NOT have a checkmark to the left of it. If, after doing this, you still cannot access the Internet, then you should probably switch back to the other SIM card or set the phone to "always ask."

The Internet is Not Provisioned on Your Account

Call your cellphone service provider to make sure that the Internet is properly provisioned and active on your account.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to leave comments or questions if anything seems unclear or if this page helps you solve your problem.

  2. Hi amber,

Under Connection Type, if you choose HTTP, you will be asked to supply a proxy address and a proxy port. But, if you choose WAP, you will be asked to supply a proxy address and to set the security to on or off.

Some carriers need you to set the connection type to WAP and others need you to set it to HTTP.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,

  4. hi teow,

I recommend that you follow the STEPS as shown in my tutorial for setting up the internet on the hiphone for AT&T, BUT use the settings for optus.

  16. THE MAN I GOT THE PHONE FROM TOLD ME TO GO TO FORMAT FACTORY AND DOWNLOAD THE 2.5 AND TRANSFER TO THE PHONE AND THAT WILL FIX EVERYTHING.THE ONLY PROBLEM WHEN I DO THAT IT SAYS JAVA INSUFFICENT.

  17. Hi Terry,

As I understand it, most cell phones cannot play videos on websites, so don't feel bad that your fake iPhone either.

In regards to format factory, I've never heard of it, but I'll look into it.

    Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Format Factory appears to be a video / music file converter. It will convert videos / songs of one format into another format. So, you could convert songs your phone won't play into songs it will play. Then you transfer the converted song (or video) to your phone.

However, the Format Factory program itself would be installed on the PC, not on the phone. The phone won't have sufficient memory or processing resources to run such a program.

  19. Dear Webdunce,

I own an a phone i9 and can't seem to figure out how to install hotmail or gmail for that matter. Everytime I try to browse to the website there is a message saying that there has been a transferred request and that i have to fill in some data again. I tried to figure out how this works on the 'real' thing, but that is quite different..

can you help me with it?

  27. Zoe, when you received the settings for the Nokia, did it create a new wap profile? If so, did you activate it?

Also, is it able to make and receive calls at least?

Also, follow the steps in this video, but use the settings for UK o2 contract service from this site.
